We look forward to engaging key stakeholders through establishing consultative committees to achieve these goals. Thus, ownership of St. Lucia Cruise Port will remain in the hands of the people of St. Lucia throughout the entire agreement period and beyond. Many destinations around the region and direct competitors with St. Lucia are expanding their ports and brand profiles to boost post-pandemic cruise numbers and passenger spending as demand increases globally. This is a time-sensitive opportunity that the Government of Saint Lucia and the people of St. Lucia must leverage to the benefit of future generations. The people of St. Lucia, through the government, will retain ownership of the port during the entire length of the agreement. GPH will never own the port - our local management team will simply be awarded the privilege to manage and maximize the benefits earned through this asset on behalf of all Saint Lucians during the partnership period.

Shore Excursions

We want to connect with community members, understand your needs, and create mutually beneficial partnerships to support all involved in ensuring the success of this project. The people of St. Lucia, through the St. Lucia Air & Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) own and will continue to own the port throughout the term of the agreement and beyond. During the term, GPH will have the privilege of managing the port on behalf of the Government of St. Lucia to maximize its potential as a leading regional cruise destination.

Float Gently on an Aerial Tram Ride

Nowhere is this more evident than in our staff complement at each port. Our teams are comprised of residents – citizens of the destinations we serve who have a vested interest, by birth, in the success of the port and the destination. As a result, all St. Lucia Air & Sea Ports Authority employees who may be interested in working with GPH will be given priority for employment under competitive terms.

Cruise Port Guide Castries – St. Lucia: docked

Fairyland and Coral Gardens are two of the best scuba diving sites in St Lucia. As such, it goes without saying that the most popular activities on the island involve nature, specifically rainforest adventures. You’ll need your travel insect repellant for these types of shore excursions.

Explore Castries, The Island’s Capital

And also the proximity to the Rodney Bay Marina (with a few nice restaurants), the Splash Island Water Park which is great for families and the Bay Bay Gardens Resort offering a beach day pass. Along the northern west coast, there are a few other wonderful beaches such as Choc Beach (20-minute taxi ride), Reduit Beach (on Rodney Bay) and Pigeon Island Beach (between US$20.00 and US$30.00 each way by taxi). Besides the already mentioned landmarks in Castries (within walking distance) both terminals are close to other attractions, in particular, for those looking forward to spending some time basking in the sun. Less time consuming, a visit to the Diamond Botanical Gardens and Falls is a must.

Shopping Near the Castries Cruise Port

Pointe Seraphine, one of the places where your Castries cruise ship may be docked, is home to duty-free shopping where you can purchase art, gifts, and souvenirs very conveniently near the terminal. Connected to the island of St. Lucia by a causeway built in the 1970s, Pigeon Island National Park is a perfect day trip while on your Castries cruise. Pigeon Island is a mish-mash of historic landmarks juxtaposed with the tranquility of a Caribbean island. Snorkeling and diving the clear waters are must-do activities on Pigeon Island, but so are tours of the museum and military ruins within the park. Cruise ships can dock in different places when visiting Castries, St. Lucia.

GPH provides services for more than 18 million passengers annually and serves the needs of the world’s cruise lines, ferries and mega yachts.

The bay also had an important role in the history of St Lucia, as it served as a battleground between French and British navies. The beach is small, sandy and scenic, and the resort offers fascinating views of the Pitons and the volcanic mountains. The coral reef is home to a wide variety of tropical fish, while the ocean bottom houses sponges and gorgonian forests.

The rich cultural past of the Barbados and Bridgetown's cruise port is preserved in an exotic mix of quaint tropical ambiance. The cruise traveler interested in handcrafts and less touristic souvenirs, should walk out of the terminal, turn left and explore the Craft Market - no more than 500 feet (150 meters) away. Some small and luxurious cruise lines like Seadream, Windstar or Seabourn also call at Soufriere - instead of Castries - anchoring and tendering passengers to the old capital of St. Lucia.

Besides the cuisine of Chef Robbiy, the restaurant has Free Wi-Fi and a wide veranda overlooking the pier. Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens, a six acre multi-award winning tourism site, is an attractive, alluring and peaceful retreat from the outside world. Enjoy the beauty and sultry warmth of the tropics whilst walking through lush fertile vegetation and marvelling at the diverse range of tropical flowers and plant life.

Reduit Beach – Located a 20-minute drive north of Castries, Reduit Beach is a lively stretch of sandy beach tucked in the southern part of Rodney Bay. Its blue azure waters, enjoyable atmosphere, a lot of watersports options, and a large number of facilities guarantee a fun-filled beach experience for all visitors. Nearby, toward Pigeon Island, there is a Pigeon Island public beach, another beautiful spot you can check out. The beaches are stunning and relatively close to the cruise port in Castries. Natural attractions such as the Sulfur Springs (a dormant volcano), the Diamond Falls, or the National Rain Forest are sights to behold.

The other option to reach the Gros Piton Nature Trail is to book a tour in advance. This is one of the best-rated, and although it doesn’t include the entrance fee to the park, you’ll be in safe hands with this highly-rated guide. The St. Lucia Cruise Port (“SLCP”) project is a public-private partnership initiative designed to support the growth of the Saint Lucian cruise tourism industry and maximize the country’s potential as a leading cruise destination. The entire port facility, including new and existing infrastructure, will always be owned by the Government, and therefore the people of St. Lucia. We are honoured to have been selected to assist you in maximizing the benefits of this critical national asset. GPH takes responsibility of the environmental impact of its group companies and subsidiaries.
